Savannah Resources, one of Europe’s most relevant and unique lithium stories
Savannah Resources Plc (AIM: SAV) is a mining development company focused entirely on the Barroso Lithium Project, in northern Portugal, an asset that combines three unusual attributes in the European market: geological scale, strategic relevance and proximity to the future regional battery value chain. At a time when Europe seeks to reduce its external dependence on critical raw materials, Barroso has established itself as one of the most advanced undeveloped spodumene projects on the continent and as a potentially important piece within the new industrial map of lithium in the region.
Savannah’s thesis today revolves around a single asset, but not just any asset. Barroso has mining concession, a favourable DIA already obtained, Strategic Project status under the European Union’s Critical Raw Materials Act, a strategic alliance with AMG Critical Materials, and a Portuguese state grant of up to EUR 109.7 million that could very significantly transform its financing structure. All this places the company in a notably better position than that of a conventional junior miner, although still far from having completely eliminated the risks inherent in a pre-production developer.
Savannah offers a simple thesis: develop a lithium mine in Europe, aligned with the continent’s strategic autonomy and with capacity to supply part of the future battery demand. That strategic simplicity is a strength, but also a source of demanding scrutiny: the company’s value will depend, above all, on its capacity to execute well the coming milestones (DFS, RECAPE, complete financing and FID) and not so much on a narrative based on multiple assets or immediate inorganic growth.
The Truth Below Ground team has studied Savannah Resources from multiple disciplines (geology, mining, metallurgy, ESG and regulation, management team and finance) with the objective of offering an integral, objective and useful vision for the investor. The result is an analysis that not only describes the attractiveness of the asset, but seeks to answer the really important question: if Barroso can become a mine, under what conditions, with what risks and with what potential for shareholder value creation.
What you get as a Truth Below Ground member:
• 30+ risks and opportunities quantified and prioritised for Savannah Resources’ current development phase.
• Independent technical analysis by discipline (geology, mining, metallurgy, ESG, management team and finance).
• Valuation model and financing assumptions and liquidity bridge before structuring the Barroso Project (DCF, sensitivity analysis of the main variables)
• Individual expert opinions, integrated conclusion and analysis of key milestones that support and on which the thesis and growth depend.
