A low-impact rotary drilling technique that uses compressed air and a blade or small hammer to penetrate unconsolidated or weathered material, returning chips to surface inside the rods. It is widely used in early-stage exploration to sample the regolith and detect geochemical halos above concealed orebodies at relatively low cost.
