A geophysical survey carried out from an aircraft using magnetometers to measure subtle variations in the Earth’s magnetic field caused by different rock types or structures. In exploration, aeromagnetics is used to map geology under cover, identify structural controls, and generate targets for drilling, particularly for iron ore, nickel, copper and gold.
